Baghdad, Iowa and cinema of the unseen

roadSome thoughts on my new project Baghdad, Iowa.
I call it a hybrid of fiction and documentary, but that is not really accurate. It is neither. It’s almost like a conceptual art piece. There is a metaphoric premise that is seeped in reality. But there are real life objects and people that ‘charge’ the film with meaning. You can hold them and see them. This dips into the mush of the American anxiety of religion, sex, death and the exploration of the open road. The road eventually allows us to enter into another realm. The window, the screen, the soul and the unseen; these are my cells of cinema, removed from their technology, they speak to me and I reflect back.
